(Manhattan)
to be continued...

(http://ronnievan.spaces.live.com/)Alrite second day!!!!!!
Hmm there was nothing really going on in the morning, probably because Jen & Amy jr. slept in until almost noon..^^||||| Anyway, after having a light breakfast/brunch @ the same place yesterday, we again went into the subway system and tried to figure out our way:)
We arrived at Times square again, then went to the M&M store nearby (this episode doesn't exist in my memory but apparently in Angie's^^|||| ) I thought it was okay at first, but we stayed there for toooooooo long, and when we stepped out of the shop, it was already 3pm in the afternoon. Well, I guess we did catch some good stuff, like Angie got a set of poker chips (btw, the main activities @ night before sleep were playing cards and DS^^|||||||||when did I become this childish????) and some shirts. Also, the M&M candy sells for $9 a pound!!!! WOW such RIPOFF!!!!! (as you'll see later, everything is expensive around Manhattan=.=|||||) After shopping, we set out for northern part (official name: Uptown manhattan) and see the famous Columbia University - the only place I felt worth seeing on that day;) (a glimpse of my past: I was thinking about applying there 2 years ago, but somehow I didn't...Columbia is definitely nice, but I like my own better:D) Picture as a proof, the Columbia library - alma mater was a magnificent building. It kind of reminded me of the Zeus' temple in Athens^^ anyway, we went around the campus for a while, the law school and teacher's college and all that, and came out a while after. Unfortunately, we left from a different exit; without Jen's extraordinary sense of direction^^, we would of had a hard tie finding our way back XD
On the way, we visited a big church. I thought it was the famous St. Paul's cathedral, then it turned out to be Cathedral of Saint John the Divine^^||||| But it was no doubt a sight. We didn't go inside however, partly because the main part was under construction. After taking a few pictures, we gain went on our way.
Then I wanted to visit the natural history museum and the Guggenheim museum, the two famous ones in NY. but for some reason (maybe Jen's not paying attention I guess) we went the wrong direction and ended up at a local mcDonalds:D It was lucky for Angie though, as she had some urgent business to deal with(details ignored^^|||||) and we sat down for a cup of ice coffee. By the time we finally made it to the musems, they were already closed(T___T I really didn't want to miss those two u know) and we hastily took some pics and then left.
I don't know if it was coincidence, but we walked past the southwest corner of Central Park once again. (honestly, we didn't get to see a lot of central park either, despite the fact that we pretty much spent two days walking around it...=.=) Then we entered the big shopping center, and Amy jr. was delighted (^^according to my theory, shopping appeared to be the main purpose of her trip) I wasn't quite impressed by the shops themselves, but through the huge glass door at front(see pic) we had a nice view of the park and the statues. At this point, we were all hungry after much usage of feet and legs, so we decided to visit the last stop of the day -- Grand central station, then go home.
On the way there, we saw a Payless shoes store. The stuff inside was quite good, all with reasonable prices:D Jen bought a pair of long boots (trying to be a model huh?) and Amy had a shiny pair of high heels (a future princess in the making?^^|||||) and finally, someone bought a pair of casuals for someone else (hint: as birthday present)
Grand Central was really grand from the exterior looks, and the interior is extravagantly decorated as well. Amy and Jen put up a show here (two sisters catching a train?) then we went underground to the subway again. We went through a door, and inside and outside was just different like heaven and earth. It felt like all the shining lights and dazzling, we were brought down to reality once more^^||||
By the time we got back to Queens, it was as late as 9pm. We wanted to check out the Macy's near the station, but it was closing in 20 minutes, and we had to wait one more day. But we ate a decent meal @ a restaurant just ourside of the hotel, and Angie was happy to have TWO sweets as her dessert (I thought body shape was more important to you Angie...maybe I was wrong?^^|||) After some rounds of cards and Super Marios, August 20th officially closed its curtain.
We didn't do much, but did have a lot of fun. I guess that should be enough for us...or is it?
to be continued (by whom?)
